 Return flow problem Ok, I have been looking for the right return pump for my new 75 gal for weeks now, and after looking around and trying several cheap pieces of junk, I found a mag drive 12 for $80 at one of my LFS. I knew it was way more than I needed, but at that price I could not pass it up. Several people including on RB said I could easily cut down the flow rate with a simple "T" fitting and a pressure valve. I have done all of that only to still have so much water returning into the return pump area that it just looks like boiling water. It also created so many micro bubbles back into my tank I cat even see anything besides white bubbles when its on. These are my first real problems with the larger pump, not to mention the laud noise, but I will cross that bridge when I can even get it working correctly. Thanks

| Re: Return flow problem you need to make sure there are no leaks in the pipe, or anywhere that air can seep in. try to get some larger pvc pipe for the T. do you have baffles between your pump and skimmer?

| Re: Return flow problem Ok, I will look the pipe over this evening as I read in your past posts. My T is already 1 1/4 ID, and yes I have baffles between the skimmer and pump. All the problems are new, and from the new large pump. I think we just need to figure out how to lower the pressure returning to the pump chamber to prevent all the churning, it has to be over 400 gph and makes a lot of bubbles. Thanks

| Re: Return flow problem could I just get rid of the T and put the pressure valve right on the outflow of the pump? Or would that much back pressure hurt the pump?

| Re: Return flow problem i think it might be too much pressure, but im not expert. I would just get the larger pvc pipe.
