Default Quarinte help!!!!With my diamond goby!

Hi everyone....I just got a diamond goby and 3 bangaii cardinals! The question I have is...I plan on putting all 4 in my qt tank....but I have a few questions...

1. My lfs said don't worry about qt'ing the diamond goby...rare disease carriers...I know they are probably full of it..but if I do qt him..what do I feed him....my qt tank is just a 10 gallon tank, that I fill with 10 gallons of display tank water, it has a powerhead, , heater and thermometer and a big cup that the fish can hide in...

so do you think I need to qt the diamond goby and if so..what should I feed him!!

Thanks
Dan

You really need to QT all fish. Gobies are not an exception. They get sick, too. You will be feeding that goby the same thing as everyone else. You will want to look it up, but gobies are generally carnivores...I do not have a diamond, so please check it out. I would have picked these two groups out separately just in case treatment is needed.

I agree with becky,QT everything. The one disease you dont think the gobie will have is the one that will kill all the fish in your tank.I would also say it sounds like your lfs has very little regard for your tank or its inhabitance.

That's what I was thinking as well. They are all 4 in qt as we speak...the only thing I was worried about was the fact that the diamond goby is a sand sifter and the qt has no sand...

He will be OK as long as you see him eating. Put some fake plants or somethig in there for him to hide behind. One more thing you might want to consider is putting some sort of mesh on top to prevent him from jumping out. Gobies have a tendency to jump out of tanks.
