Default how loud should it be

140 gallon tank. live rock and sand. tank is only two weeks old. changed from an external pump, to a submersible pump. pump is much quieter. so much so, that now the water noise seems to be very loud. there are overflows in the rear corners of the tank, and the gurgling noises are driving me crazy. is this normal, or have i done something wrong...again. thanks for any help.

Do the obvious first.Make sure your drain pipes terminate under the water and after an"L" in the sump.Cover the top of the overflow with something reef safe. Now it gets difficult,You can add 45's in the drain pipe both inside the overflow and outside so the water doesnt fall straight down.Raise the hiegth of the drain pipe in the sump to very close to the bottom of the teeth in the overflow. Most all of the noise is from falling water and any or all of these will cure that......to a point. If your sump is not enclosed lowes knows, they can help lol.
