| By far I am no expert at this reef stuff.. I can only tell you what I been told and Im sure some expert will tell you something differnt but I have a 55gallon tank and I was told you need at least 3-5 watts per gallon for corals.. Right now you have 2.36 watts per gallon. That to me would be something to look at. But Like I said Im new just telling you what I have been told. Like you said about placement maybe you need to place it a little higher in the tank.. Hope this helps. |

| yes, you need much more light for them to live and be healthy. compact florescent lights are week as it is and you do need around 5-6 watts for best results. You might look into a T-5 or MH to help out.

| Now to the linckia...and quite possibly the cucumber. Your water parameters are going to tell us more about what happened to your tank. I don't think this question can be adequately answered without that info. Cleaning sand substrate...hermit crabs, nassarius snails...sand sifting critters like stars gobies. These are just a few examples. It is generally believed that it is best to not mess too much with your sand bed. |
