Default Red Algae

I have red algae all tests are fine it seems to grow more aggresive on my sand bed only feed fish every other day so I know I am not over feeding. bad part about the sand bed is the powerheads have to be pointed just right not to kick up all the sand which I think might be the problem not enough flow on the sand. What can I do?

Ok

1. When you say all tests are fine. This can be very vague which tests tested fine?

2. What is your Water Source?

Water flow can be an Issue but something in your water column is feeding your outbreak of Cyano. So my first thing I would do is remove all traces with a turkey baster. Then frequent water changes with Known Good Quality water. IE RO/DI This would be a place to start. Phosphate's and Silicate are sources of Cyano.

If your Reef is showing you red it is Bleeding. Corrective measure should be taken quickly. Do not use any Slime remover product. This only treats a symptom it is not the cure. Have you changed any water Yet?

All test are within guidelines ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, calcium, phosphate, PH, I do not test silicates. I do not use RO/DI water do not have the funds to get that equipment. I have just been treating tap water and letting it sit overnight before topping off. I have not done a water change yet. lights are on only 7 hrs a day. should I cut this back?
