Default Culturing Starburst polyps

The mat on my starburst polyps was outgrowing its rock and lifting off it so i cut off and relocated the overgrowth. I have reef safe putty epoxy but the trimming wouldnt stick so i tied it with fishing line. Will it attatch eventually like this? How long should it take?

My Brother did the exact same thing with star polyps and they took off on the new softball sized rock covered it in about 6 months.

Did he use glue or tie it to the rock?

he tied it but either would work because the mat creeps along over the edges of the frag rock and onto the new rock. His turned out really nice bright green
