Default not sure where I am at

Ok, once again I am new to this, but I have a question. I am in the cycling process of my tank, I have live rock and sand in the tank cycling. I have no skimmer on the tank yet due to the sump and skimmer being stuck in shipment. I have good water movement, about 1400gph in a 55g tank. Here is the question, my test read that my ammonia is about zero, salinity is 1.026, tempature is 79 F, but my nitrate and nitrite is way high, pretty much at the top of the charts. So does that mean that my ammonia spike is over? And am I in the process of nitrite/nitrate going down? I have what seems to be green algae growing on the rock, but little else. So how am I doing?

Salinity a tad high. Sounds like the ammonia spike is over. Nitrate shouldn't be high until the nitrites start to come down. Everything is moving along nicely.

Do not add salt when topping off for evaporation - use RO/DI water for that. Use salt water when doing water changes.
