| New to the Hobby (Getting Started/Setting Up) Think you can upgrade to saltwater? Your probably very confused, but remember ask questions and you'll get your answers on here! |

| The instructions that came with my refractometer say that for calibrating it to put 2-3 drops of distilled water on the glass then adjust it to "0". You don't need any kind of special fluid for calibrating that I know of, just distilled water. You can't calibrate it with ro/di water. If anyone else out there knows more, please add in or correct me! |

| lol they gave you a bottle? Sweet. Ya to calibrate you put plain jane RO water on it and make sure it reads 1.000. You dont need special fluid. |

| It was a $40 refractometer, so I felt obligated to buy the $3 bottle of calibrating fluid. I think I'll take it down to the LFS and double check it against his just to make sure. Thanks gang, ya'll are awesome! |
