Default one pump or two

my system will be about 50 gal total I have a 1.5" bulk head that goes down to a 1" pipe. my sump is about 3 maybe 4 feet from the top of my DT. I plan on having 2 returns pipes that will be split in 2 again with lock line should I go with one pump and T the line twice or two pumps and T the line only with the lock line. what size/sizes would be best i was thinking if i go with one it should be around 500 gph or two at 250 gph
