Default Help Me Help A Friend

SO i am settin up a 55 gallon for a friend i actually meet her at my LFS her husband made a custom slot in the wall for a 55 gallon for her in her office. I told them about the site and told them it would be there best bet. I passed along all the info i got from you guys and thought i could stop them from amkeing the same mistakes i did... this is there tank

55 gallon AGA ( it has only been up for about a month they used live sand and that water that said you didnt have to cycle)

HEre is where i think things get fishy...LOL they have 12 FISH IN THERE TANK

7-blue damsels
1-tomato clown
1-perucla clown
1- YELLOW TANG
1 coral beauty
1 blue velvet damsel

PLease help me help them realize that this is crazy i almost forgot the tank ahs two whisper hang over the back filters thats it the two probally equal 70 gallons of filtration on meant for upto 60 and one for a 10.... also none of the fish where quarantineed the yellow tang i saw with ick at one point in my lfs as well as the coral beauty yellow tang looks fine now but was on the brink o fdeath 2 weeks ago before they bought it...

Yes, damsels are bad news and can end up stressing out the others until they die.

wow... way to many damsels. clowns are also a type of damsel so with 10 damsels in the tank they might as well flush them down the toilet.....
I'm sure its pretty but damsels do not like to be with others types. they really do not like to be cramped up. the yellow tangs need a lot of space to stay healthy and will often get tired of smaller fish and start killing them off. or it could stress them all out letting them all pick up a case of ICH.

two carbon filters are "OK" not great. but it should work out as long as its a fish only tank.

how much LR do they have?

I can go on about this one for a wile...

i dont recommend Damsels as community fish either, they are just too territorial. also i dont recomend mixing different species of clown fish, they will usually pick on each other. and is that a coral beaty angel!! that is nuts because they will just grow way to big. you need to keep they like in at least 125G. well i hope this helps. im also starting a 55g.

Thanks guys for all your help lease keep in coming.. Just wnated to check but plec said the coral beauty needs a 125 thats not correct is it i know the tang needs a big system but no the angle??? They have around 20 pound sof live rock

im sorry i thought you were talking about one of the large angels. you are right and they need at least 30g, sorry. Nice looking though! your not gonna keep any corals right?
