Default High calcium

Have been using the Aquarium Systems SeaTest calcium test kit. My calcium has been falling, but it was over 1,000. I tested it yesterday and it's 750. I used tap water for my initial set up, but now using RO. My coralline is coming in well, and I have a mushroom that looks like it could be happier, but so far, still thriving. How do I get my Ca++ down? Or, will it just fall naturally through utilization by inverts and RO water changes?

Thanks,
Dave

Default Re: High calcium

You can either do water changes to lower calcium or wait and it will fall over time as your corals and coralline use it up. As a side note, I'm sure your calcium wasn't really over 1,000 ppm or it would have precipitated out of solution. There is probably something wrong with your test kit. When you buy your next test kit, buy a Salifert test kit - they are by far the most accurate of the hobby grade test kits.
