Default starting 30 with sump fuge

I have obtained a 30 gal acrilic aquarium that I am building a stand for, going to put 30 gal under it with return and protien skimmer 100 sea clone then baffles. Plan on putting pump in center 2100 Rio and on the other side fuge with some of the water off of the main tank going into it with ball valve controlling flow then one baffle overflowing into center to be pumped up to tank. Planning on a Aquactinics Tx5 series 36 for lights with two 420nm and 3x6k midday all 39 watt bulbs 195 watts all together.

Do yourself a favor & get a quality skimmer - forget the SeaClone

Is RO water ok to mix or does it need to be RO DI?

question about setting up plumbing, should I just have one port putting water in on opposite side of drain side or should I have a more elaborate spray system to design?

I have been told to go with the spray bar design. It does not seem that hard to do and it will get rid of alot of "Dead Spots" that would otherwise be found in your tank.

You can go ahead and do the back spray bar if you want but i am thinking of something a little more intricate. There are a few guys on here that actually made a nice little maze of pvc pipe under the sand and then brought little jets up to make little currents and stuff...looked kinda neat and i think that is what im going to try. Seems like it would be a little more effective then just pushing everything to the front of the tank, but what do i know. Im still really new at this

That sounds interesting is there a diagram or picture of what you are talking about? What are they using for jets?

Thanks, I was wondering how well that flow would be behind live rock, makes sense to do a maze as long as it doesn't hurt flow to much.

The only thing that you need to make sure of is that you have a nice flow going though the tank. Something like a 1400gph overflow like this would work out very nicely as long as you had the right return pumps to keep up with it. Then you could have somewhere between 6-8 jets in theory that barely poke out from the sand or whatever you are using and get some really awesome flow. It would also be pushing alot of water per hour so the filtration would be good.

Good site for the overflow box and not that prices. Thank e_baer for it, he showed me the link. Hang-on Continuous Siphon Overflow 1400 gph w/ 2 Bulkheads - 704009

After looking at that I believe I need to get smaller return pump and put small pump in display tank driving spray bar.

when using a retro light kit do you need an exsisting hood or just make one out of wood?
