Default New Place to buy frags

So I put this in the New to the hobby because I see a lot of questions about it. I just made another purchase from this dude named Rob. He was awesome. You guys know how I am about customer service so ya...anyways his stuff was great as well. I bought 5 frags but he sent me 9 frags. They were all sick too. Here is the link. eBay Store - Alti's Reef: coral, zoanthid, lps

Make sure that you at least do a reef (iodine) dip on all incoming corals. You don't want to get Little Red Bugs (LRBs), flatworms, etc... into your tank.

If there coming in and healthy do you do a normal dip or something different. Do you water down the iodine

i think, not posotive though, that an iodine dip is basically fresh saltwater with loads of iodine in there.....could be wrong though.

Yeah, kinda...doublecheck on everything ... and then triple check before dipping. I killed a favite yesterday doing this.

LAY OFF, MAN! I'M HAVING A DAY!

I read for a whole week or so before doing it. I am more of the paranoid aquarist when it comes to these things.

Result: loss of tissue. Owe husband new brain coral.

Yes, so that it doesn't happen to you. I followed the directions on the Lugol's bottle...somewhere between 30-40 drops mixed into a gallon of saltwater. They say to leave it in for 10-15 minutes. Uh no, it was losing tissue before it sat in there for one minute. It isn't completely dead. it still has a few healthy looking polyps, but it is mostly skeleton.

I use Seachems Reef Dip/Coral Disinfectant. Hasnt given me any problems yet. Says it is safe for LPS, SPS, Polyps and anemones. Im sure the main ingredient is Iodine but it doesnt say on the bottle.

Seachem Reef Dip is also the product that I use most often. And yes, I dip EVERY coral. Along with my reef dip, I also dip the hard skeleton part of LPS corals in freshwater before placing them in my tank.

BTW - Yes, Seachem's main ingredient is iodine.
