Default what WATT? MH help

what WATT? MH help

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lumenarc III light reflectors look great! I have 2 175 mh on a flat reflector right now and i was thinking upgrading to a L3 large with either a 250 or 400 watt. I have a 36x36x21 CUBE and i was going to run 4 atinic vho's around the L3.
what do you guys think?
What watt should i go with, 250 or 400?
and i guess ill use 1400k bulbs- not sure about that yet.
heres a pic of tank just set up

For a tank that is only 21" tall, I wouldn't go with anything stronger than a 250w MH unless you plan on keeping a pure, SPS tank with shallow water corals and plan on running a chiller.

I would go with the 250 MH 10K to 14K range. remember that 20K lighting is only for better looking color not growth! Nice tank but lose the BIO wheel system! Please keep the pictures coming.

I'd go 250watters

Then get yourself some 14k Phoenix bulbs, no need for actintics, but the growth of 10k's !

the filter on top was just clearing water for a day or two. im in construction of building a canopy and stand. the tank was custom built to that size. I really do love the size it is too! im leaning towards the 250 with L3 reflector 12000k bulb. i now have two 175s but i think the 250 will do better. but im not sure thats why i was asking you guys

I'd go with the 19" lumenarc with 400 w 12k with the lumenarc 10/12" off the water.

assuming your 400 is burning 400 x 10 hrs would be 4kwh look at your light bill and it will tell you what they charge per KWH {kilo-watt hour] Actualy your Meter is looking at the ballast, so to be accurate you need to check what the ballast is rated at. Not all ballasts are the same.

4 KWH x 30 Days X cost per KWH = Cost Per Month.
