Default Clam???

Can a clam just show up in your tank and start forming? Im not really sure what this is, but it just kinda popped up out of my sand bed....

Its really hard to tell what that might be from the photos. I'm willing to bet that it isnt a clam though. My guess, and this just a guess until you can get some larger shots of it is that its a sponge of some sort.

i know the pics are tough. when i try to zoom in really close on things in my tank tho, its really blurry. The only thing i can say is that it has the same ridges a clam shell has at the tips

lol i doubt its a fish. could be a snail i suppose. i guess ill just have to watch it and see what happens

Ok so i didnt have time to snap a picture, but the lights were off in the tank when i came home (getting rid of a diatom bloom) and there was a little white thing sticking out the top, when i turned the light on, it retracted and the shells slammed shut
