Default Snowflake eel

How much of a chance am i taking no having a top if i get one? Ive read that they will get out, but when i go to the pet stores i see them in tanks with no tops and the tank is much smaller than my 30.

Your 30 is too small - should be a minimum of a 55 for adult size eels. If they say to keep the lid on - keep the lid on.

I do not have experience with eels. But I have read a lot of them, and have read MANY cases of them escaping! I suggest...keep the lid on

well maybe when i get into my own place and get a good size tank goin, ill go for it. Another thought...are they reef safe?

Snowflakes would be reefsafe in that they wont actively harm corals. However, they will actively harm crustaceans (shrimp, crabs, hermits etc), may eat smaller fish, and being large predators will produce correspondingly large quanties of waste products.
