Re: Sump? Having just re-done an existing system let me see if I can explain what I did. I'm not sure what you have set up already so I will go with you have nothing but a display tank. You have to get water from the dt to the sump. You can add an overflow box inside the tank which will require drilling one or two holes in the bottom of the tank. Water flows into the overflow box and out the bottom of the tank where hose(s) direct it into the sump. (That's what I have). Or you can get a hang on system (not familiar with those). I am assuming your sump is under your tank (although it can be next to ...). Your sump can be designed in several ways. In my setup, my sump has 3 sections. The water is first directed into a filter sock. The second section holds my skimmer and the last section has some LR. My return pumps are external. Some systems include a refugium within the sump. If doing it this way make sure the skimmer is before the refugium or you could skimmout all the good stuff you are trying to get back to the tank. Your sump can hold your heater, chiller, calcium reactor etc... There are other ways of setting up a sump. Hope this answered your question - and there are pictures of my setup under the thread 'my 220 rebuild'...
