I have a seaclone and cpr bp2. My cpr collects more junk and is quieter.

Yes there are several skimmers that are better. How much do you want to spend? Look at these brands: Euro Reef, Deltec, H&S, ASM

Your going to have to research all those brands, each brand has different models, most include the pump, some need feeder pumps, some are for sump only, etc.

Seaclone skimmers have many problems that make it tough to get good skimmate out of them. I've successfully done a mesh mod to one and it worked much better than stock, although I still wouldn't use it on anything other than a q-tank. The biggest problems with them is that the skimmer body is small so it doesn't allow much time for the air to mix with the water and the air volume in the body itself is small because of it's small size. If you try increasing the air, you end up getting microbubbles in your tank.

Do the microbubbles in tank hurt anything?

Not usually, but they are annoying if there are too many in a display tank.

Why would seaclone skimmers be good for beginners, but not advanced aquarists? I think they actually work better for people that have experience with other types of skimemrs so they can analyze why the seaclone isn't skimming and mod it so that it works better. As a rookie, I would have never figured out how to actually make my seaclone skim. BTW - The best mod (besides that hammer and smash it mod) for a seaclone is the mesh wheel mod.

Well here is why I think it is good for beginners. It was my first Skimmer, and it made me tinker with it and research things on the internet. I figured out how to get mine going better. One of my secrets was to move the pump closer to the top of the water to pull the protien in. I didn't say that it was not for advanced aquarist. It's price range puts the skimmer in a place where begginers will take a look at it. In my eyes every tank should have a skimmer and if the low price gets someone to use one then so be it. You are right about the reaction chamber. The Mesh Wheel Mod is the way to go on these skimmers also keep Pump as close to surface as possible.

I'll agree with that. For the people that are willing to spend the time doing research, you can learn a lot by having a skimmer like the seaclone. Keeping the pump as close to the surface, shortening the inner "cyclone" tube, mesh mod, installing a better air valve, etc... can all be done to improve the skimmer. And the cost used to be much lower than any of the good skimmers out there. Now, you can find decent skimmers for about $50 more, which is still a decent chuck of change but you'd get a much better skimmer.
