Default I love my family, but....

Had the family at my place for christmas, they loved the tank. My 3 year old niece wanted to see the fish eat, so I fed some spectrum pellets in my 120, she got a kick out of it. Didn't think too much of it, until I noticed after eferyone had left she decided my devil damsel that was in my QT looked hungry and dropped a piece of christmas ham in. Pulled it out and didn't think much of it. Got home tonight from work and major cloudy water, dead damsel. Did a 50% water change, not knowing what else to do.

Here is the question. I have a nice size piece of liverock in there for some bio-filtration. Should I just drain all the water and toss the rock and start over? Or just keep doing some WC over the next few days?

Well to be honest I can't answer your question...I'm not qualified enoguh...however I do have one of my own. Why do you have LR in a QT tank. All you need in there is a sponge filter or a HOB filter and some pvc for the fish to hide in. LR will soak up any addivites or supplemnts you put in there for your sick fishy.

No need to toss the rock. Just do water changes over the next few days.

I don't want to run any kind of filter, and plan on pulling the rock out if I need to medicate the tank any. I don't believe in just adding a bunch of stuff to the water, rather wait and see if there is something wrong first.

Thanks Glampka, that is what I was thinking. Nice to hear it from another source.
