Default brittle star hard and not moving

I have a brittle star in the tank, It was up on the LR and under one. I was cleaning the tank and noticed him. I moved the rock and the star looked like a pretzel and was hard and not moving. I picked it up and he wasnt moving and was the shape of a pretzel so I assumed it was dead until a part of the leg started to move. Then I kinda started to move his other legs around until it was back to normal and all legs were moving again.. Any thoughs? Is this normal? It was almost like it was stuck in that position and cramped up until everything started to move around again..

I have a serpent star that dose the same thing. He will sit in the same place place curled up like a pretzel for sometimes days at a time. If you look at them at night they're more active. It sounds like your brittle star is acting normal to me.
