New need tank and light info

Hey guys, im looking for some advice, I am pretty much set on a nano tank, does anybody have a preferance(or a problem) between the:
Aquapod-12g, 54watt CF; OR
Nanocube DX- 12g, 2X24-watt 50/50 CF.
With either of these what will be my limitation on corals, will I only be able to keep softies??? I appreciate any advice and thanks for your help in advance

thanks...what does it mean by 50/50 on the PC's for the nanocube?...also are there any books on keeping nano reefs, and many have recommended the Conscientious Marine Aquarist book but it is almost 10 years old, any suggestions?

That marine book is still a great read, I suggest you read it. Many books are older like that, which is why you go to RB to get the most recent information, etc.

50/50 means half of the lights are actnic's and the rest are day lights. Actnic's are a special type of light in a certain spectrum for corals. It simulates the deep water of ocean reefs, as if light that is going thru several feet of water. A must for some types of corals.

I am going to read the Conscientist Aquarist but I also found a couple of newer books specifically directed at nano reefs...Have you heard anything or have an opinion on the Nano Reef Handbook by Brightwell or the Simple Guide to Mini Reef Aquariums by Kurtz? those look to be the most recent on the subject
