Default Sump water change process

Ok im setting up a simple sump/refugium out of a 20 gallon tall tank i bought. The flow will be split to refugium and skimmer sections on the end with the return in the middle. Whats the process for a water change? My tank is 30 gallons, i do a 3 gallon water change every week. Probably up that to 4 or 5 with the added water volume now.

4 or 5 would be fine. Take 4 or 5 gallons out of the sump an refill the sump. Much easier for you and the fish.

What I always do when I do waterchanges, is turn the return pump and drain line off. I then put the new water in the sump (skimmer and return section).

I then syphon the 5g or whatever the change is out and then turn the pumps and drain back on.
