Default 1st water change

I have a 150 gallon SW tank with live rock. Should my first water change be at least 50 gallons.

Most people say 5%-10% so i think 20 gallons max. I dont know if first water changes are special though, but 50 sounds like a nice waste of salt and water to me.

I recommend no more than 10% water changes at a time, except if you have a problem in your tank, and then I recommend 25%. For your first water change, I'd stick to just 10%. Massive water changes are hard on any live critter, no matter how closely you try to match temp, pH, salinity, etc...
