Default How can I hand harvest bubble algae?

I've heard different things about how to remove these, or not to! I've heard that if you try removing these they'll cause algae bloom, or if one breaks open. But I've also read you can remove them by hand, if the latter is true, is there a right way to do this? I don't have a lot of these but, the ones I want out are just ugly!

Thanks!
Dana

P.S. Is there a blenny or other critter that eats hair algae? My crabs and snails don't seem interested in it!

Would someone describe bubble algae please? The ones I've see in pics don't look like what I suspect is in my tank. I have some tiny bubbles under some dark maroon algae. My emerald crab has been eating it fairly well This has gone on for a couple of mos. with much less algae now and no "bloom?" from "his" bubble popping. Am I having the little guy eat away some "good algae?"

I don't see it in the picture.

There is more than one kind of bubble algae, though.

I usually pull them off the rocks when they are in the tank, but you need to grab them gently and rock them back and forth til the come loose. Be careful though because they do pop easy if squeezed.

He's on my list of fish to stock! I should be getting him within the next couple of weeks, I'll post how it goes when he's in there.

P.S. The bubble algae I hand harvested, I did a little pull and twist motion gently thill it came off. I did break one on accident but was doing this with the syphon going in the same hand so I just put that over the spot it broke for a minute, then syphoned the shrunken bubble.
