would this be a good idea.. thinking about getting rid of my canister fillter, and just runing a refugium + my AquaC Remora

I would highly recommend using a sump. You can use the canister filter for polishing the water when necessary.

Take a tank and divide it into a sump and a fuge. Melevsreef.com - Welcome! will expand on that idea a little more for you.
