Default 10 gallon sump good enough?

is a 10 gallon sump good enough for a 29 gallon dt? i just want to be able to fit a coralife ss, heater, filtering pads and of course a return pump. is the 10 gallon a viable option?

With proper planning, it should work well. If you are going to make you rown sump, read a lot for cutting your baffles. Proper design will make all the difference. I am right in the beginning stages of a 50G sump...so I understand...

is it necessary to have baffles? i was at lfs and he showed me a sump they had in their 400g coral dt. it was just filter pads sitting on egg crates where the water came in, a protein skimmer, a little spot where he grows so kind of algae stuff and then the return pump. no baffles at all.

There's a huge difference between the dealer's 400G coral tank and your 29 gallon. (about 371G)

If you don't mind micro-bubbles in your display tank...you might not need baffles...
