Default Refugium vs. Wet Dry???

Ok..... I need to know the difference between the Refugium and a Wet dry system. I know they both have a holding tank but the Refugium has LR ect. with that tank. What is the difference and pros and cons for each. Is thier additional work to the refugium? Thanks all!

REfugiums are not a filter. They are a place "of refuge" for animals and plants that would normally not be able or that you do not want in your main display tank. Such as Macro Algae and Copepods. A wet/dry will have a type of medium in it like bio-bale or bio-balls or something that will help create a place for bacteria to form to help break down amonnia and nitrite, which will create the nitrate that you need to get rid of (which a refugium with good macro algae will help decrease). Having both is a good thing, and getting rid of the wet/dry over time will be good as well if you have a full closed reef system set up.

Ok... that make sence. Then what are my choices when it comes to filtration? A wet/dry system and what? I was planning to have built in overflows. Thanks for the help.
