Neep help with water parameters

I just checked my numbers: pH 8.0 ammonia 0 nitrites 0 and nitrates 20. salinity is 1.03.
Just finished with my water change. Was going to get some snails, are these numbers good enough for snails? I have a 55gal with 50# of LR from Fiji. Have CC substrate, which I know is not as good as LS, but am planning to change this, but not in the near future. Tank has been up and running for about 8 weeks. Any advice would help. Thanks, Deb:confused:

Your OK to get some snails, It'd be nice to get those nitrates down some though, do you run carbon at all ?

That CC is most likely the cause of your nitrates already, did you syphon the top of it when you did your water change? also how much water did you change at once? I'd say 10gallons would be a nice amount to do weekly since you have the CC

Default Snails

I would agree that you are OK to introduce snails. They are pretty hardy. As a rule, I introduce snails & crabs through the cycling period but not fish and certainly not coral. The snails and crabs will even help the process.

Krazy K and sellelg, I changed about 20 gal. yesterday. I run carbon in the HOB filter. Today I added some snail (5), will order some off the 'net' they are too expensive at the lfs!! Thanks, for the response.
