Icon14 odd creatures!!!

I've started a 46 bowfront reef tank, to seed the bacteria I had a friend run a canister filter he had given me in his system for a couple weeks hoping it would be colonized by the bacteria of his established tank, so it has been running in my new system now about 3 days and i figured i'd clean it now, opened it up and to my suprise it had several small shrimp alive and well apx. 1/4" and several hmmmm well they look like anemones or jellyfish, mix of white and clear, any idea what they might be? sry no pics now I have a new comp. ordered, this one won't recognize my cam.

thx. Paul

Welcome to RB Paul! Sounds like those anemones are actually aiptasia anemones, which are pests in your aquarium, I would get rid of these really fast. However, without a picture I can't say with certainty.

How To Eliminate Aiptasia Anemones with Lemon Juice A Reef Tank Safe, Effective, and Easy to Perform Injection Procedure That Costs Only Pennies!

thx. for the welcome and i think i'm gonna play it safe... i shut it off, no way to know what these shrimp are either, think i'll scald the whole filter before reusing it scrub it out and let the sponge media go dry acouple days to be sure, i'm watching my coraline algae get covered in diatom, that's bad enough to wait through but i don't wanna fight the aptasia too...

thx. Paul
