Default What Color do you paint the back or do you at all?

My dealer I'm buying my tank from paint the back of the backglass black. (so does the other fish guy down the road) I didn't think anything of it untill I just saw a pic of one that apeared to be a pretty deep blue. What do you paint yours or do you leave it clear?

paint or just the film it dosnt matter it only there to hide the crap behind the tank hoses, pipes, hang-ons ect. it has no value except astectic so do whatever floats your boat. just remember you'll have to look at it for a long time.

Which do you use the paint of the film and what color do you like? I think I'm leaning towards the blue.

they say blue makes the tank look deeper, the black makes the fish colors stand out or "pop" more when you look at it....any crazy designs or anything just takes away from your reef or your fish...as far as painting goes, it works out best because you get no salt build up behind your tank in between the paper and the glass....the ones that stick to the entire glass work out good too....stay away from anything you have to tape to the back..

Thanks for the tape hint. I didn't think about salt creep back there.

Is there a certain type of paint that is best to use? What color blue do most use or do you just pick out what ever you want?

everyone uses whatever they like...i personally like black for saltwater...i dont knwo why but you seem to be able to see all your fish more...their colors really seem to shine .....as far as paint goes...i have used in the past just simple appliance paint...

Instead of painting the back of the tank I purchased a piece of hard plastic ar acrylic and placed it on the back of the tank. Held it on with clear caulk sealing the top and sides so no water could enter. Worked great.
