If the purple and green algae seem imbedded in the live rock you may have caralline algae and then that is VERY good, it is normal if you bought the LR in a good LFS with some coralline already started - keep it up. Listen to other feedback though - this is just from my reading and experience. Some folk here have yrs. more reef experience so if they differ I'd listen. If algae is all over walls and gravel/bed, cut back on nitrites/nitrates and lighting. Lighten up on feeding etc. Let us know how it is going and GOOD LUCK and have fun.

Tank is a new set up, been up for just over a week. It isnt coralline as much as I wish it was. Some of the rock I bought has coralline but this algae you can remove with a turkey baster, it just sucks it right off the rock, the coralline will not come off that easy. Does anyone know what algaes will show up inthe cycle so i can watch out for them?

When I say NORMAL, I mean they are at a level as if the tank were through cycling.

SG: 1.023
Nitrates: 0 ppm
Nitrites: 0 ppm
PH: 8.0 - 8.2
amonia: 0 ppm
Calcium: 410

I havent seen any noticable spike, still waiting on that. I only run light 6 hours a day right now.

You may want to take a water sample and have lfs check the parameters for you so you can make sure your test kit is accurate. I find it almost unbelievable your tank cycled in 1 week! But, this hobby can be surprising at times. The red algae is cyno and that indicates high phosphates/nitrates. The green means it is still going through a normal cycle. Keep us informed.
