Icon14 Water pump too strong?

so I've got my tank up and running and it's seemed to have gone through it's initial cycle. I bought a clown fish as my first fish for my aquarium. as I sit and watch him, it seems that if he were to stop swimming, my water pump would push him around the tank in circles..... what should I do?

If you have had your tank set up for only one week and have a fish in it already he will more than likely die.wait until your tank is well past the green algea stage before adding anything. You have at least two weeks to go before the tank is even close to being cycled.

I agree with native. To answer your question, I don't think the pump is too strong, you want good flow. What is it? Also, the clown is a little weak from being in there too soon. It is like when you get the flu and you are lethargic. He may make it if he is tough. Seed you tank with extra live bacteria to give it a boost and hopefully things will improve sooner and help him out.

When fish first get added to a tank with high flow, they often get pushed around. Once the fish learn where the strong current areas are and get adjusted to the high flow, they don't get blown around.

Today's the second day of perfect water testing, everything in my tank seeks to be good - possible reasons - under recommendation by my pet shop "exotic aquatics" I added a 3oz package of nitrifying bacteria. I have also addded 6-10lbs of live rock from an already establish tank with plenty of coraline on it. If the little guy starts to breath heavily or do anything that looks different that what he has been doing, I am also prepared with small quarentine tank to place him in, I'm not going to just let him die

i don't think he meant that as harsh as it sounded... stay on your maint, if your water is good ur fish will be too. i added two clowns a week after my LR came in, they seem happy as larks, i may be rushing it but i do the water changes and tests like it was a religion. i should add my LR was good from get go, i didn't have to cure it

I've also bought a sixline for my clown to hang out with and their both doing great. The six line just hangs out under the arch of rocks I have set up in my tank while my clown loves to swim in the current, guess it's just his personality.
