Default Trying to Pair clowns?

So my tanks doing great, even though it's not very old. my question is, Can I attempt to pair my clown with another one, or is it already too late if he's already been in there a few days? The book I've ready recommends only have one fish of a given genus, but I saw a pair of two black clowns at the fish store that looked so happy together. I'm not sure if the pet store will take him back if they start to fight with each other.... is it worth the chance?

Alot of people suggest making sure that your store will take one back and then going and buying 2 more and setting them in the tank. The one you have will meet up with one of the two that you set in the tank, and when the pair is there take the other one back and your problem is solved. I may be wrong here but I do not think it is ever too late, as long as the fish is alive that is.

don't know what kind you have but different clowns respond differently to some things... my best friend keeps maroons and late comers are rejected at first but not violently, then gradualy allowed to join th family

it's a true percula clown, the last one they had. I really didn't want to have a false percula clown.

what a cruel thing to say... my false perculas saw that and are currently protesting.

lol, i can't advise you then. better let someone with experience reply, there may be a quirk about that species

well I dunno, would a misbar alianate itself from the true clown, or even worse, fight because of the slight differences?

Clowns react differently to new comers.

Marron clowns, for example, have the female as the dominant one. She chooses the male and forces them to comply.

My Tomato clown (female) was first in my tank. She was very aggressive towards another Tomato I added months later. She slowly allowed him in until months later they mated and laid eggs.

It can happen but may take time.
