| Three would probably be a good number for a 29. It all depends on what fish you want to add though. You have anything in mind? |

| I think if you have the right setup, and alot of filteration, you should be okay with at least 5/6 small fish, the small guys should not need more than 5gallons, but consider your decor , this will take away from ypour over all gallons in actual use. |

| with my rock and sand in the tank, I have about 24-25 gallons of water and quite a bit of open space. Right now I have a percula and a sixline. As soon as I can, I would like to try and pair my percula. Further down the road, I would like to include a Green Phychedelic Mandarin Goby and a Reidi Brazilian Seahorse (Which I know both of those are tempramental and hard to take care of). and probably a shrimp Which would be a total of: 2 - percula clowns, 1 - sixline wrasse 1 - Green Phychedelic Mandarin Goby and 1 - Reidi Brazilian Seahorse. |

| The list looks ok but, I'd be wary of adding a sea horse with a percula in that size tank as they can be territorial and seahorses are very calm and can not tolerate getting picked at. Have you looked at the basslets? There are a few that do well in small community tanks and are quite hardy and beautiful.

| I do not think a tank that size would be able to keep a mandarin alive for more than a few weeks, unless you had a fuge hoked up to it or were able to get it to eat pellets or something like that. I guess you could also just feed it pods. Mandarins have a really bad track record in small tanks because of their eating habits. The seahorse needs very little flow in their tank, which makes it a bad choice to mix it with fish that should have some flow, like the clowns and the wrasse. They should be fine though, and if you had a huge fuge than you may be able to get away with the mandarin, but i still would not be too sure. Those are just my thoughts though. |

| I think 3 fish would be ideal for a 29 gal tank, but 4-5 may be ok if you have good filtration and the fish stay small. Mandarins eat a ton of pods and usually starve in tanks smaller than 55-75 gal. I don't recommend them for any tank under 125 gallons. Sea horses need a very gently current or they will be blown around, which makes them bad for reef tanks or tanks with a bunch of LR since they need flow.
