Default Open letter to all forum members.

I thought the time had come to write this in the hope it will aid all members of the forum. I will suggest that when you post and are asking for help or for ideas, please include all basic information. Basic information should include; all water parameters, size of tank and complete set up meaning, filter type (sump, canister etc.), lighting (what type and total output) and if you have fish only with live rock and if you keep corals. Also how long the tank has been up. I know some of this is your bio but many bios don't contain this info. How many times has someone posted and then there is this list of postings addressing the above. If you give the most info you can to give us a good profile, it will cut down on response time and mis-diagnosis or answers that don't fit and we will all benefit. I am hoping one of the moderators will use this as a preempt to the forum so all can read before posting. Happy aquarium keeping to you all.

Some fantastic advice there!

As long as we are here...It would also be nice to see things like ID posts to take place in the ID forum with pics. Even though Krazy has a sticky at the top of the ID forum people want IDs on things without posting a pic. I am quilty as of late posting off topic. I will try and do better and follow my own advice.

I think RB needs a little morale boost right now. Maybe a video contest of the tanks. Nothing great in reward...maybe a t-shirt or something. Maybe a bio of a moderator and his or her tank if they have it looking good right now. Just some thoughts...

What about it Ryan? Think maybe a possibility? I would love to see that Red Flower Pot you got from the Coral Broker some time ago. Hows it doing? Was gorgeous when you bought it.

While I am sure that most of the regulars already "know the drill" so to speak and get it pretty close to right, its not them that cause the "problem".The issue is with noob's who come on the forum and in the first three minutes find the welcome page of reef discussion thread and think that is what they are looking for.So for the most part every person who needs to read this thread will never see it.I agree with what you are saying,I just dont want you to get your hopes up.As for me,if I can answer the question I will answer it no matter what section it is in and not get to hung up on protocal.

I appreciate the service you provide NATIVEMAN, I often find you are the one to answer my questions and those of many others. Your help has been invaluable.
