Default Tap Water

We have pretty good water here. Can I get away with getting set up with tap water and then getting an RO for top off?

Thanks

Mike

Default Re: Tap Water

That plan has been the first downfall of many an aquarist.During your cycle you will see algea growth, there is nothing you can do to stop it.If you want it four times as bad use tap water. Most tap water in this world has laods of silicates in it.If they are not removed you will get a diatom bloom that may cover the bottom of your tank for weeks instead of days.residual metals like copper will remain in the tank just about forever. The chemicals you put in tap water do not remove, they either bind it up and release it later or turn it into chloromines which is just as bad.For 99$'s ypou can get a good ro unit.
