Default odd algae

i came home this evening and found a piece of liverock in my sump with what looked like hair algae on it but completely black... i forgot to get a pic, i jerked it out and scrubbed it in freshwater with a toothbrush, still some debri of it in the pores of the rock i couldn't get... thinkin bout taking it out and let the rock dry out a couple days or just trashing it, should i? can anyone tell me what it might have been?

sry i said sump i meant refugium... i know algae in it is good but i'm weary of what i allow to stay as i'm not certain which ones can spread and enter the display tank.

If you have a suffuicient amount of green bio mass in the fuge and you are feeding it "dirty" water slowly directly from the dt there wont be enough food for the algea to grow in the dt.Or if it does grow your clean up crew will get it before you see it.
