Default canopy question

Ive just finished building a canopy for my 45 gallon tank. Im putting in two 175 watt metal halides and some actinic flourescents... do i need to install fans into the hood? the back of the hood is open and the lights will be about 10 inches off the water

maybe 12-15 inches off the water...the canopy is 20 inches tall and the lights drop down about 6 inches or so

If you are planning on Doing Metal Halides a couple of fans will not hurt you at all. Those lights run really hot and any way to keep the water cooled down would be a big help.

I think fans are essential to keep temperatures down.

I actually added an exhaust to the outside to get the hot air away from the tank.
