Yippee...We've got "real" fish

First of all I want to thanks everyone in my earlier posts that helped me get this far...also, apologize for what I think may be a lengthy post..

We cycled our tank initially with a shrimp from the grocery store (thanks to volitan and dr reefinski for this advice) until our ammonia and nitrite cycled through...We then added about 9 various damsels...(the "non-real) fish. We made a mistake and did this in three waves and the first set of 3 ended up killing the next two sets of three...save for the two that got sucked into the powerhead...didn't realize I needed a filter on there..we've got one now.

Checked our water levels and everything was stellar spent about an hour and had to take out all the rock to catch those darn damsels...traded them in at LFS and started our long term project.

We've added; 1 Tomato Clown, 1 Sebae Clown ((they're actually doing real good together now after some drama)) and 1 Green Chromis. We had 2 Camel Shrimp, 7 Cerith Snails and 4 small hermit crabs.

OK...now to the questions...

1. We want to add 3 more green chromis so they can school, how soon can we add these?
2. What would you recommend as total amount of fish we can add?
(75g, 60# of rock (half live), 60# sand (half live) and 40# of crushed coral"
3. We want to add a brittle starfish, we heard that they were virtually indestructable, cheap too, can we add this now?

Thanks again to everyone for their help in the past and in the future.

Mattie

i would hold off on the star because the tank is new and there would be no detrius to forage on and feeding would be tough. wait at least six months. as for the fish it depends on the size and what level they like to be i.e. top teir, mid-level, bottom, or free range. temperment plays a huge part also. no one can give an exact number because every tank is different. research each fish and add in proper order. certian fish must be last added or no others will survive. one way to help new fish is by changing the rock work just prior to adding a new fish, this makes the old inhabitants establish new territory instead of harassing the new fish.

What is your opinion on adding fish?

The tank is completly cycled with 3-9 fish depending on the day....Will I create a bioload overload by adding 3 more fish to the 3 that we've put in there today?

I know I need to have patience with any tank but I'm FOWLR now and would really like to see those green chromis school a bit.

I can't say thanks enough so I'll just leave it at that.

no adding three more at this point won't hurt at all. sorry i didn't understand that it was cycled. wait about three to four weeks then add a few more and so on until your where you want to be. have fun and keep me posted.
