 Brown algae question I am just starting a 90 gallon tank. I added about 75# of very clean dead rock(used to be alive), a 10# live rock with red coraline algae purchased from LFS hoping to seed the rest of the rock, 90#'s of dry sand and 40#s of Bio-active sand. Added live rock and sand about 1 week ago. Ph and salinity are good. The live rock is getting covered in a brown coating of algae, I think. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.  |

| Re: Brown algae question That is typical especially when adding a large quantity of rock. There is a die off and and a mini cycle. Increase your flow to the worst area and stay on top of nitrates and phosphates. |
