| I've heard mixed reviews on crushed coral all together. I hear it produces more nitrate, and can be a problem or cause you to do water changes more then you'd want. My LFS only uses bagged sand, it's not even live sand. And after a while all the organisms you can ask for start to florish in your sand bed. If I were you and I'm sure people can argue this but this is just what I did, lay down a 3 inch sand bed with zero crushed coral and then you can get a scoop of sand from your LFS that will give you all your bacteria and organisms like your worms and pods and what not. I've had sand in my tank for less then a month and out of one scoop of LFS sand I got bristle worms, speghetti hair worms, pods, and star fish all over my tank and it's looking good. |

| Thanks so much! I plan on putting down sand, maybe this weekend?? I work full time and am in school for my master's degree, so time is very precious to me now. Will try to get this done before I add any fish. Will my 5 snails and 5 blue hermits be OK? Will the tank cycle again?? Thanks, Deb
