| Yes. I've used the standard metal razor blades for years without any issues. They will rust quickly, so even if you rinse and dry them off after each use, you'll only get several uses out of them before they need to be tossed.

| i have a ice pick that i use for different things and its rusted but i still use it is that bad ? |
| ||||
| Some old timers used to add a couple nails in their reef tanks so that iron would get added into their tank as they rusted, so no, it shouldn't cause any problems. I just don't like using rusted razor blades, because as they rust, the sharp edge can get some bumps along it that could scratch the glass easier than a new razor blade.

| I have a 'fish brush' from a previous tank. It's a blue scrubbie, with a long handle.... Looks like this. Is this acceptable? ![]()

| Yes, that is acceptable, but a razor blade or other metal type of scraper works the best for removing coralline off the glass. If you have an acrylic tank, don't use anything metal and stick to an acrylic glass cleaner pad or rubber scraper.

| I use the Kent Algae magnet (Scrubbie pad between two magnets one inside one out) for easy scrapin, and the Kent Scraper for the hard stuff. If you do use a razor just rinse it off in fresh water and pad it dry with paper towel. It will make it last longer and not rust (stainless ofcourse). try not to use razors if they are startin to rust, could lead to scratchin. And say clear of the silicone.

| If you put some kind of oil (like fish oil or cooking oil or something like that), and rinse before use, rinse after and apply oil it should make the blade last even longer. |
| ||||
| I wouldn't recommend putting anything on the blade. The blades are cheap. Putting oils on it may extend the life of the blade, but oils affect how a skimmer performs and could stop skimmate production for days.

| I use an old credit card to get the algae growth that my normal magnet cleaner can't get off.

| I use razor blades. I get mine from home depot, 5 for .99 cents. I usually get 25 at a time and that will last me a few months.
