Default 50 gallon lighting question...

hey all... i have a 50 gallon display tank. the dimensions are 36 in long, 18 in wide, and 17 in tall. i would like to keep a large variety of specimens in my tank, but am unsure as to what to purchase in the way of lighting... i was thinking MH, with some florescent. i would also love to be able to set up a daylight/moonlight cycle... anyway, i very new to the saltwater reef hobby, and would love to hear some recommendations, and or advise... thanks all.

Give more info. Do you want to keep corals anf if so hard or soft or mixed. If fish only your options are more open as far as low to high range.

As already stated, having more info on what you plan on keeping will help everyone to be able to give you a better recommendation. But, IMO, MHs are usually best left for larger tanks than your, unless you plan on keeping the most light demanding SPS corals.
