CONGRATS TO YOU!!!!! I also have a 180gal, and if all goes right, I will be setting my dream up in less than a month!!! Good luck to you! Keep us posted as how you are coming along! By the way, just curious, what are you using for the substrate? Coral? Sand? And what types of creatures are you thinking of adding?

I had a question what kind of lights are you going to use? i am going to have sand for substriaght and crushed coral on top. And im also running a ton of Live rock dont know how much yet heh depends on how much money i have left after getting the tank.

As for me: I don't have ALL the specifics yet for the lighting, pumps, etc. I am getting this all from a friend of mine- absolutely everything- top notch- for the best price!!! I love it!! Can't wait. I am using (World Wide) pink samoa sand with a layer of live reef sand to 'seed' the top. I am not sure about this, but I heard that if you do a layer of sand then a layer of coral- that in time it blends together. Can anyone tell me if this is true? Good luck to both of you! Can't wait to see the pics!

I wouldn't use the crushed coral. It has a large particle size & the sand will eventually find its' way through it. The sand will end up on the bottom & the coral on the surface. Detritus will collect in the crushed coral as well which will lead to nitrate problems.
