Default My 60 gallon new reef setup

Here are a couple of pictures of my relatively new 60 gallon setup:

the whole tank, minus about 20 pounds of LR

my mushroom rock beginning to open up this morning

my brand new frogspawn.

I also have a coral banded shrimp, 2 peppermint shrimp, and a lawnmower blenny in the tank. Today I plan on running to the LFS and grabbing a couple of Percula clowns.

Looking good except for the background!! If you didn't put the rock in first don't get any burrowing fish since your aquascape will come tumbling down.

Most of the rock was put in before the sand was so im not too worried about burrowing fish. The two clown fish are doing awesome, kind of weird how they just chill on the end of the tank I acclimated them in. They have a spot in the tank they will only leave if they get hungry. I will post pics soon!

I also have a new fire shrimp that was hiding so i wasnt able to get a pic of it, and a sand sifting star but that thing was under my sand bed 5 minutes after he was put in. More pics to come soon, comments welcome.

looks very nice. you were talking about burrowing fihs earlier, if you decide to get one, may i suggest the engineer goby? very neet hardy fish that looks like an eel! i have one in my 55. as juviniles they have horizontal stripes, and when they get older, the stripes turn to be verticle. they get to be about 1' long. i have had mine for about a year, i got it when it was about 2-3" long and now its about 7" long.

it loves to hide in the rockwork in its little sand cave. will eat right out of my hand and will let me pick it up too! they have a great personality.

would that goby be ok with some kind of shrimpgoby? I would like to get a pistol shrimp and a goby that would create a symbiotic relationship

Another thing Im a little worried about is the fact that for temperature reasons I took the glass lid off of my tank and I have heard that some gobies LOVE to jump to their doom

Im really a fan of LPS, they look really cool to me.....One thing I also really like are green star polyps. I have a very very small rock, size of a quarter maybe, that is covered with them, and I am also wondering how I can get them to spread onto the larger rock, any ideas?

well, as long as they are in a spot they like, just put the rock near a rock you want them to spread onto, and over time they will. you can also try to frag them, but i wouldnt suggest that when you have such a small amount. actually, you way want to try it, just to one polyp.

So just to update everyone, My LFS restocked yesterday and I picked up a Blue hippo tang, and a dwarf flame angel. As soon as I get my camera back, hopefully tomorrow, I will post pictures of them! I would like to get an anemone for my clowns to house, but I am not sure which to get. I have a mated pair of Ocellarus clowns, I would like to get an anemone that they would normally find in the wild. Any suggestions?

Bubble tip anemone would work well, and another good burrowing fish is the jawfish. I picked up a Pearly Jawfish AKA the Yellowhead Jawfish for $22.99 and about an hour after I had it in my tank it was making a burrow! Very neat little guy and he looks like a firefish but blue and more eel like.
