I'm going to do some searching but if you read this here than maybe you can help me. I'm looking for a good tank heater. One with a temperature controller. The tank heater i have now is a POS. It can not regulate temperature for crap. It's more like 78 +/- 2 deg.

And Tom, your not stupid bro. You just don't know what each species of animal require. It's not easy to piece together a reef with corals and animals. It's the same with corals. You don't just put them in the tank. Some like it bright some like it not so bright, some like fast moving water some like it calm. Others will kill to defend their territory, and yes i'm still talking about corals.

You'll pick it up man.

Jason

Here is the new hood installed, It still needs the matching trim installed and I need to make a prop rod setup so i can have the lid stay open on it's own. The front piece is hinged so the entire front opens up.

Plus i added a new Hammer coral...it has 2 heads and has a wonderfull green color to it.

Does anybody want to buy a PC setup....i'm going to get another MH. The pc fits over a 55/65g tank and it has a 12k and actinic with 6 led moonlights, used for 4 months. pm me if your interested.

That hood looks good man. How much did that cost to make and how long did it take?

took me about 2 hours to make but it's not finished yet. I still need to attach trim and find a way to have the lid stay open. The cost in parts was about $65.

Use the hood latch method. Take a standard hood latch off of a car and cut it to the size you need. OR...... Get some trunk shocks from Ed Morad and instal one and just hav a simple latch to keep the hood held in the closed position when your not feeding or messing around in the tank.

the trunk shock would be too strong. the lid is like 2 lbs max.

Now that stupid questions have been approved, here's one: How do you stick new coral frags onto the rock? Do you just put them there and command them to "stay"? Do they grip by themselves? Do you glue them?

P.S. I actually posted the previous question in an unintended forum -- but maybe you'll answer it anyway? Thanks!

I used some reef tank epoxy that you can get from your LFS or ebay. For the small Zoo's i just fragged i used gell superglue...they were much smaller though.

that's just anenomes, they are glued to rocks that I can move around though....so if they need more or less ligth i can adjust them if i need to.

My zoo frags are not glued though they are just sitting on rocks. Also my Xenia isn't glued...i'm hoping they spread off the rock they are on.

The SPS ans LPS are glued to lerger rocks though. Soon the Cap Montipora will become one with the rock it's on. And the Hammer coral is just glued in place for stability.

Do you have any pics of your tank?
