| Nice tank, I really like the Tomini Tang. What did you use to get the rock stacked?

| I love the tank. That is some of the craziest rock work that i have ever seen. |
| ||||
| Looks good, I like the towers. Wish mine had come out like that, but I was working with boulders.

| Thanks everyone. To stack the rock I used a carbon arrow and drilled holes through the rocks and set them down over the arrow. In hindsight it doesn't really give me alot of options on placing corals, but it gives my fish alot of room to swim and I have no deadspots, it is completely open in the back. The tomini is my favorite. He was at the LFS for like 3 months, no one wanted to buy him because he was skittish when someone walked by the tank. My wife called him the "shy" fish. One he got settled down in the tank he has been awesome! |
| ||||
| Tomini is the yellow guy? |
| ||||
| Oh i see, what is he? a tang? I like him |
| ||||
| sorry, Idon't understand carbon arrows used to stack post drilling. What are carbon arrows? I'm tring to learnare before I start. Thanks |
| ||||
| Arrows like you'd shoot, ya know a bow and arrow? They are alot smaller than trying to use PVC. The ones I used were made from carbon instead of aluminum like most of them are. |
| ||||
| Sorry, I was thinking marine not bows and arrows. New at this and I'm tring to learn. Thanks for your imput. |
| ||||
| Hm thats an interesting way of putting rocks together. Is it better then using epoxy? |
| ||||
| Yeah it is a lot sturdier than the epoxy....IMO.

| yeah, Ill consider that, but whats holding the carbon arrows? and were would i get carbon arrows? this is the best idea i have heard for holding rocks together. |
| ||||
| I used a good size rock for the base, and drilled into the big rock so the arrow is down in there about 4 inches. Made sure to put the rock on the bottom glass (I used a piece of acrylic under the base rock to spread the pressure out some) the started stacking from there. I got the arrows for a few bucks a piece at Walmart. |
| ||||
| oh walmart? hmm i guess arond the fishing section. |
| ||||
| It would be the bow and arrow section of walmart.... When in doubt, go to walmart.
