I think your parents will be really happy that you have put a lot of research into learning about this hobby. Let them know how much you've learned about water chemistry and ecosystems....
Congrats on the "new" tank!!

Yes, that is the way to do it! Tell your parents everything you know about SW fish and corals! Talk about it non-stop! That is how I got my dog

hahaha Im good at being anoying sometimes, but idk about doint it that way lol.
now about my knoledge, well they know i have a big head! lol so the problem is more of, what if one dies! They have only payed attention to fish over 50 so this is were i mostly need convincing.
But how about FISH food!! I know everything but that! I have some frozen mysis shrimp in the freezer, I know that would work, but i cant feed them that everyday.

If you're still in school, try convincing your parents that you should be rewarded for getting good grades - fish, inverts, food, rock, etc. Parents will do anything to keep their kids getting good grades.

Check out this web site for a RO/DI filter:http://www.buckeyefieldsupply.com/sh...ry=167&Sub=166

This is where I purchased mine from and it works great, and I can get the guy on the phone or email same to next day if I need to order anything or have questions = great customer service and the price is great.

fish food shouldn't cost you too much since clowns will eat small pellets or flake which lasts a long time.

It is sitting on the floor of my room waiting for me to get enough money to finally set it up. The stand is being build right now and I should be getting it drilled next weekend. Then i need to get a bigger return pump for the sump and have the lexon cut for the overflows and the baffles. Then i will be able to start the month long cycle and then when my birthday comes, March 22, i will be able to get the sand i need, new bulbs, and an RO unit. It is still there, but money is tight right now so I have not started it yet

Is this posible? about 2 days ago I tested my LS, wich is siting with water in the 20g. I told the guys to give me a bit of water with the sand.
it was at .50, nitrites were .50 too. today they are both at zero, is this possible? havent tested for Nitrates yet

yes, it is definately possible. Did your RO unit come in the mail yet? If you did not use RO water, you may have been getting a reading from the tap water....
