the cross brace is there to keep the tank from splitting at the corners.I would not even think about removing it.That do nit drill label is there because the tempered glass the tank is made out of can not be drilled. It WILL shatter, not might shatter,or maybe it will shatter,it WILL shatter. If you want metal halide for that tank you will need a two bulb unit, they are designed to cover up to a 2x2 foot square surface area on the tank.

So w/ a fixture thats 23" x 14", I would have to go w/ a 20g tall? I plan to keep I hope acro's, I have some of the lower light sps ( 2Hynophora, Pectinia) in my 75g under cf and ho lighting. Are tanks made that small w/ built in overflows? my 75 has corner overflo, my 55 fowlr I use a canister filter. I am still in the plannimg stages, I also have a tank mount 150 watt 14,000K metal halide. I planned to use that on agrow out frag tank, I wanted to plumb both tanks off the same sump. Thanks for your help

I was looking for a 37 gallon tank with built in overflows and found that no manufacturer makes on smaller than 55 gallons. Some tanks you can get drilled if they are not made of tempered glass(if you see really thin glass on a fairly large tank you can bet its tempered).I would say the most important 2 tools an aquarist has are a pencil and paper, when used to make a plan they cant be beat.

i wouldn't cut it man, although small, that brace helps keep the tank from bowing out in either direction..without it, too much pressure is going to be put on the corners and may cause a leak at the seal over time...
