Default Live Rock

I'm new to the live rock thing. I don't have any yet but I am planning on getting some real soon, and i was wondering if the bacteria and other organisms on live rock could spread onto a fake rock thus turning it into a live rock?

Fake rock you mean plastic? Or actual rock which is called base or dead rock? If its the later then yes it can spread.

Bacteria will grow on anything. The more surface area (Porus rock) the more bacteria.
